Every account starts with a company called Untitled Company. Naming it takes one field, and Skarmy only asks once.

Before you start

Nothing. You can name your company at any point, though Skarmy prompts you during your first build.

Name it from the workspace

While your company is unnamed, Skarmy asks in the workspace — a card above the composer. During a build it reads While this builds — what do you want to call your company?; otherwise simply What do you want to call your company?

Type the name

Enter it in the Company name… field. For the running example, Kilnwork.

Save it

Select Save.Expected result: the name updates in the sidebar immediately, and the card does not come back.
If you would rather not decide yet, ignore the card and keep building. Skarmy keeps asking on later visits until you set a name.

Rename it later

Two ways:
  • In Settings. Go to Settings → Company → Overview, which holds your company’s name and details.
  • By asking the coach. In the chat, say rename my company to Kilnwork. The coach uses exactly the name you give it.
Renaming your company does not change your published site’s address. Those are separate — see Site addresses.

The description and cover image

After your first build finishes, Skarmy writes a one-line description and a longer blurb for your company, and generates a cover image. These appear on your company dashboard. They are generated from what you actually built, which is why they wait until after the first build rather than asking you up front.
Once you have named your company yourself, Skarmy will not rename it. Your name stays yours.
There is currently no button to regenerate the description or cover image.

Multiple companies

Use the company switcher at the top of the sidebar to create a new company or move between existing ones. Select New company to create one; you can hold up to ten. The switcher decides what the rest of the app shows: the workspaces listed, the tasks, the inbox, the files, and the dashboard all follow the active company. Create a separate company when you are working on a genuinely separate venture — its own customers, its own problem. For a new page, feature, or campaign for something you already have, add a workspace to the existing company instead.
When the coach thinks an idea is a separate venture rather than part of your current company, it tells you in its reply before handing off.

Verify

  • The sidebar shows your name instead of Untitled Company.
  • The name card no longer appears in new builds.
  • Settings → Company → Overview shows the same name.
